The vehicle intermittently would not start. The key had to be inserted into the slot in the centre of the dash, and even then it did not always start.

The starting problem had been present for about a year. During an attempt to program a key, the G-scan 3 disconnected from the diagnostic socket. The ignition could no longer be switched on and the engine would not start.
