Engine started running rough and the engine
check light came on.

After this it got worse and the vehicle lost throttle response.
Had popping in the air box and generally very rough. There is no throttle when running rough. On restart it idles at 2500 rpm and we have throttle control, it then start running rough after 30 seconds or so and loss of throttle.
