About C1150

C1150 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.

When C1150 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.

Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.

C1150 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

Some vehicles, particularly trucks and commercial vehicles, use a two speed rear axle that can be shifted between a high and a low ratio. A dash mounted input switch tells the control module which ratio is selected so the module can correct vehicle speed and odometer calculations. DTC C1150 sets when the module detects that the two speed rear axle input switch circuit is shorted to battery voltage (Vbatt), producing a constant high signal that does not change when the switch is operated. When this code is set, the module may default to a single axle ratio, leading to inaccurate speedometer and...
