Hydraulic Fluid Pressure/ Flow Circuit Short to Gnd
C1159 — Hydraulic Fluid Pressure/ Flow Circuit Short to Gnd
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1159 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1159 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1159 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The ABS and stability control module monitors the hydraulic control unit pressure and flow circuits to confirm the system can build and modulate brake pressure on demand. DTC C1159 sets when the module detects that the hydraulic fluid pressure and flow control circuit, which includes the pressure sensor and the switch over (isolation) solenoid valve, is shorted to ground. A short to ground typically pulls the circuit signal or solenoid feed low, preventing correct operation of the hydraulic actuators during ABS, traction, and stability events. With this code set the ABS, traction control, and ...
