Park Brake Valve Solenoid #1 Sense Input Circuit Failure
C1180 — Park Brake Valve Solenoid #1 Sense Input Circuit Failure
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1180 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1180 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1180 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
In vehicles fitted with an electrohydraulic or solenoid controlled park brake system, the park brake valve solenoid controls the hydraulic pressure that applies and holds the park brake. The control module drives the solenoid and monitors a sense input circuit that feeds the solenoid state back to the module so it can confirm correct operation. DTC C1180 sets when the module detects a failure on the sense input circuit of park brake valve solenoid number 1, such as an open circuit, a short to ground or power, or a feedback voltage that is out of the expected range. When this code is set the el...
