About C1508

C1508 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.

Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.

C1508 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The traction control system manages drive wheel spin in two ways, by applying brake pressure through the ABS hydraulic unit and by requesting engine torque reduction from the ECM through throttle closure, ignition retard, or fuel cut. Code C1508 is set when the control module detects that an engine torque reduction intervention has continued for longer than the calibrated time limit. The module suspends traction control as a protective measure when this occurs. The code may set as a normal response to prolonged wheel spin in low traction conditions, or it can indicate a wheel speed signal faul...
