About C1883

C1883 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.

When C1883 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.

C1883 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The air suspension control module uses a ride height sensor at each monitored corner to measure suspension travel and maintain the target ride height. DTC C1883 sets when the module detects that the right front height sensor circuit is shorted to battery voltage, so the signal reads abnormally high or sits above its valid operating range. The sensor is a linkage driven position sensor referenced to a low voltage supply and ground from the module, and a signal pulled up to battery voltage is well outside the expected window. When this code is stored the module rejects the right front height rea...
