Code Information

The Variable Assist Power Steering (VAPS) system varies steering effort with vehicle speed by controlling current to an electronic power steering control valve solenoid, the EVO actuator, on the steering gear or pump. The VAPS module drives the solenoid on one circuit and monitors the return on a second circuit to verify the loop is healthy. DTC C1900 sets when the module detects the solenoid loop shorted to ground, meaning one of the solenoid circuits is leaking current to ground rather than following the controlled drive path.
