Keyless Entry Circuit Short To Ground
B1526 — Keyless Entry Circuit Short To Ground
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
B1526 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1526 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1526 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The B1526 fault code is set by the Body Control Module (BCM) when it detects that one of the keyless entry circuits is shorted to ground when it should be at a high reference state. The BCM holds the receiver signal lines, exterior keypad inputs, and door lock control switch returns at a controlled high level (typically through an internal pull up resistor) and watches for a momentary pull to ground when a switch is pressed or a remote signal is received. When one of these inputs is held at ground continuously, the BCM cannot distinguish between a held button press and a wiring fault, so it st...
