Battery Pack Voltage Out Of Range
B1676 — Battery Pack Voltage Out Of Range
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
B1676 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1676 is stored, the module has detected a plausibility fault — the measured value is in the electrical range but is not consistent with expected operating behaviour.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1676 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) on hybrid and electric vehicles continuously monitors the total terminal voltage of the high voltage traction battery pack. DTC B1676 is set when the BECM measures a total pack voltage that is outside the acceptable operating range, either too high or too low for the current state of charge and load conditions. This is a pack level monitor, distinct from individual module voltage monitoring, and is used to protect the inverter, motor, and DC/DC converter from out of specification supply voltage. When this code is set, the vehicle may exhibit reduced hyb...
