B1694 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1694 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit.

The B1694 code is set when the Body Control Module (BCM) detects an open circuit on the Autolamp On input, which is the photocell signal that drives automatic headlamp switching based on ambient light. Under normal operation the BCM provides a low voltage reference to the photocell and reads the return signal as it varies with light intensity. When the BCM sees no signal at all on this circuit it concludes there is an open between the photocell and the module, in the photocell connector, or within the photocell itself.
