DTC B1917 indicates that the Restraint Control Module (RCM, sometimes called the Diagnostic Monitor on earlier Ford SRS platforms) has detected a fault in the internal memory clear circuit used to manage and reset stored crash event data and history codes. The memory clear circuit allows authorised service tooling to acknowledge that a fault has been repaired and to clear the corresponding code so the airbag warning lamp can extinguish; on some Ford platforms the same circuit is also used during the dealer level scrubbing procedure that follows a deployment event.
