Code Information

The P1116 code sets when the PCM finds the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor reading outside the expected self test window during a Key On Engine Off or Key On Engine Running self test. The ECT sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor whose resistance and signal voltage change with coolant temperature, and the self test expects a value that makes sense for the engine and ambient conditions.
