The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor uses more than one signal to tell the Engine Control Module (ECM) how far the driver has pressed the accelerator, and sensor B is one of those redundant signals used to cross check pedal demand. DTC P1214 is set when the ECM detects that the pedal position sensor B signal is intermittent, dropping out or jumping erratically rather than changing smoothly with pedal movement.
