P1215 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for GM vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.

When P1215 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.

On a regulated voltage control charging system the Engine Control Module (ECM) does not simply let the generator regulate itself, but instead commands generator output using a pulse width modulated signal on the generator field or turn on circuit, and receives a duty cycle feedback signal telling it how hard the generator is currently working.
