Code Information

The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor that reports coolant temperature to the Engine Control Module (ECM) for fuel enrichment, ignition timing, cooling fan control, and closed loop fuel feedback. The ECM feeds the sensor a reference voltage through an internal pull up resistor, so the signal voltage rises as the coolant gets colder and the sensor resistance increases.
