P1201 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.

When P1201 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.

Code Information

The Engine Control Module fires each fuel injector by supplying the solenoid with battery voltage, on most Audi and Volkswagen applications through the fuel pump relay or an injector fuse, then completing the circuit through a low side driver inside the module. The ECM monitors the voltage on that driver circuit, and on direct injection engines it also monitors the high voltage boost supply used to open the high pressure injector rapidly.
