Injector Circuit Cylinder 1 Short to B+
P1213 — Injector Circuit Cylinder 1 Short to B+
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Audi
P1213 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1213 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1213 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The cylinder 1 fuel injector is supplied with battery voltage from the fuel pump relay or an injector fuse, and the Engine Control Module switches the low side of the circuit to ground for the calculated pulse width. Between injection events the ECM expects the control wire to sit near battery voltage through the injector winding, and during an event it expects that wire to be pulled close to ground, so the module can identify a fault by watching whether the line responds to its own switching. DTC P1213 is stored when the ECM sees the cylinder 1 injector control circuit held at battery voltage...
