Injector Circuit Cylinder 2 Short to B+
P1214 — Injector Circuit Cylinder 2 Short to B+
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Audi
P1214 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1214 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1214 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
Battery voltage is supplied to the cylinder 2 fuel injector through the fuel pump relay or an injector fuse, and the Engine Control Module completes the circuit by switching the low side to ground for the required pulse width. Between injection events the module expects the control wire to rest near battery voltage through the injector winding, and during an event it expects that wire to be pulled down close to ground, so the ECM can identify a circuit fault by comparing what it commands with what the line actually does. DTC P1214 is stored when the ECM finds the cylinder 2 injector control ci...
