Code Information

The ignition coil primary circuit carries the current that builds the magnetic field in the coil, which then collapses to generate the secondary spark voltage. On these engines the primary is fed with battery voltage and switched on the low side by an output stage, either built into the coil or contained in a separate ignition module, under the control of the Engine Control Module. The module monitors that circuit and expects the line to be pulled low for the dwell period and released at the moment of spark.
