Code Information

The accelerator pedal position sensor 2 provides the ECM with a redundant signal of pedal travel that is cross checked against sensor 1 in the electronic throttle system. DTC P1280 sets when the ECM detects a fault in the sensor 2 circuit, where the signal is out of its normal range, open, shorted, or implausible. Sensor 2 has its own 5 volt reference and ground and returns a signal voltage that tracks pedal position, often offset from sensor 1.
