Code Information

The Electrical Load Detector (ELD) measures the total electrical current drawn from the charging system and reports it to the ECM as a varying voltage, letting the ECM manage alternator output and idle to match electrical demand. DTC P1298 sets when the ECM detects the ELD signal voltage above its expected range, an input high condition on the ELD circuit. The ELD is usually mounted in the underhood fuse and relay box.
