Electrical Load Detector Circuit Input High
P1298 — Electrical Load Detector Circuit Input High
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Isuzu
P1298 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Isuzu vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1298 is stored, the module has detected a signal or supply voltage higher than the expected operating range.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1298 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Electrical Load Detector (ELD) measures the total electrical current drawn from the charging system and reports it to the ECM as a varying voltage, letting the ECM manage alternator output and idle to match electrical demand. DTC P1298 sets when the ECM detects the ELD signal voltage above its expected range, an input high condition on the ELD circuit. The ELD is usually mounted in the underhood fuse and relay box. A high signal commonly results from an open in the signal or ground circuit, a loss of ELD ground, or a failed ELD. When this code sets the ECM loses accurate load information, ...
