About P1345

P1345 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Kia vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.

Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.

P1345 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

On this Kia 1.6L engine the SGC sensor is the camshaft position sensor, which is triggered by a notched reluctor on the camshaft sprocket and sends pulses to the Engine Control Module (ECM) several times per camshaft revolution to identify cylinders for sequential fuel injection and ignition timing. DTC P1345 sets when the ECM receives no SGC signal at all while the engine is cranking or running, so it cannot establish camshaft position. Without this signal the ECM loses cylinder identification and may fall back to a default injection strategy. The result is hard starting, a no start, rough id...
