Code Information

The knock sensor is a piezoelectric sensor bolted to the engine block that detects the vibration of detonation, allowing the Engine Control Module (ECM) to retard ignition timing to protect the engine. As part of its self diagnostics the ECM runs a knock control zero test, checking that the knock sensor circuit and its baseline reference behave correctly during a defined window.
