The evaporative emission leak detection solenoid is part of the EVAP system the Engine Control Module (ECM) uses to seal and pressurise or evacuate the fuel vapour system so it can test for leaks. The ECM energises this solenoid during the leak detection routine and monitors its control circuit. DTC P1403 sets when the ECM detects a fault in the leak detection solenoid circuit, such as an open, a short, or current draw outside the expected range.
