About B0114

B0114 is a generic (obd-ii standard) body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.

When B0114 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range; and a signal or supply voltage higher than the expected operating range.

Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.

Because B0114 is a generic OBD-II code, its base definition is shared across manufacturers. The specific diagnostic steps, reference values, and repair procedures can vary by vehicle, and the TaT Diagnostic Assistant includes verified procedures submitted by working technicians.

Code Information

DTC B0114 sets when the airbag control module, also called the SRS ECU, detects that the high side, the low side, or both wires of the right hand rear (RHR) side impact airbag deployment circuit are shorted to ground or to power. The module monitors the voltage and resistance on both deployment lines to confirm the RHR side impact squib can be fired safely and to catch wiring faults. This code stores when it sees an unintended connection to chassis ground or to battery voltage on either line, most often from a chafed harness, a pinched wire, or contamination in a connector. When B0114 is prese...
