Code Information

The Body Control Module (BCM) in GM vehicles uses Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) to store non-volatile data including vehicle configuration parameters, learned adaptive values, VIN data, security credentials, and option content codes. DTC B1007 is set when the BCM's internal microprocessor detects a data mismatch after three consecutive attempts to write information to the EEPROM — at that point the processor flags the fault and redirects future writes to an alternative memory area.
