Boost control solenoid 2 is a pulse width modulated valve driven by the Engine Control Module (ECM) that meters vacuum or pressure to the wastegate actuator or the variable geometry vane actuator, allowing the ECM to hold manifold boost at its commanded target. The solenoid is fed battery voltage through a fuse or the main relay and switched on its ground side by an ECM low side driver, and the ECM watches the voltage on that control circuit to confirm it drops toward ground each time the output is commanded on.
