The Engine Control Module (ECM) compares the signal from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the signal from the Bank 1 exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, known as Sensor B, to verify that exhaust camshaft timing is correct relative to the crankshaft.
