When P130D is stored, the module has detected a plausibility fault — the measured value is in the electrical range but is not consistent with expected operating behaviour.

Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.

Code Information

The PCM continuously monitors knock sensor inputs and combustion quality to protect the engine from detonation related damage. DTC P130D is set when the PCM detects persistent or excessive knock activity that cannot be adequately controlled through ignition timing retard and fuel adjustments. As a protective measure, the PCM forces the engine into a limited power or torque reduction mode to reduce combustion stress and prevent mechanical damage. The driver will typically notice reduced power, a warning lamp, and possibly audible pinging under load.
