TC-SST-ECU to ECM Communication Error in Torque Reduction Request
P1590 — TC-SST-ECU to ECM Communication Error in Torque Reduction Request
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Mitsubishi
P1590 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Mitsubishi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1590 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
During a gear change the transmission control module asks the engine ECM to briefly cut torque so the shift can complete smoothly without shock loading the driveline, and that request travels across the CAN bus as a specific torque reduction message. P1590 is set when the ECM and the transmission control module disagree about that exchange, either because the request was not received, was not acknowledged, or the two modules reported inconsistent values. On twin clutch models the module is the Twin Clutch SST unit, and on CVT models the same code is described as a CVT ECU to ECM communication ...
