The customer reported poor engine running, misfiring, excessive smoke, and no throttle response.

The vehicle initially presented with severe running issues, and investigation revealed the timing had jumped a tooth. Following mechanical repairs, it later re-presented with the same symptoms. During testing, the engine ran smoothly when the alternator was unplugged but ran very poorly when it was connected. Charging system tests showed the alternator output was within specification, but the fault persisted until an EGR-related issue was found.
