The engine is noisy and produces a distinct rattling sound, more noticeable when hot. The noise appears to be coming from the injector area or just beneath the top of the rocker cover.

The engine runs normally but develops a pronounced mechanical rattle that increases with temperature and engine speed. Initial suspicion was toward the injectors or valvetrain area; further assessment localised the noise to the timing chain system.
