The vehicle operated normally during road testing over a two-day period, which allowed extended workshop observation because it is towed behind a motorhome. After approximately one hour of idling, the engine developed an erratic and surging idle. Based on when the symptom appeared and how it behaved at idle, a vacuum leak was initially suspected.
