ABS Inlet Valve Coil RF Circuit Short To Battery
C1216 — ABS Inlet Valve Coil RF Circuit Short To Battery
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1216 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1216 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1216 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module energises inlet and outlet solenoid valves within the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) by switching the low side of each coil to ground while the high side is fed from a switched battery rail. DTC C1216 sets when the ABS module detects that the right front inlet valve coil control circuit is shorted to battery voltage, typically by sensing that the driver pin remains at or near supply voltage when the module commands it low, or by detecting excessive current draw through the high side feed. The right front inlet valve admits master cylinder pressure into the...
