Code Information

The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) monitors the voltage state of the brake warning lamp output circuit to detect short circuit faults. DTC C1226 sets when the EBCM senses 0V on the lamp output pin while it is commanding the lamp off, indicating the circuit has been shorted to ground somewhere between the module and the instrument cluster. The module recognises the unexpected low voltage as a circuit fault and may disable lamp control to protect the output driver from excessive current.
