ABS Outlet Valve Coil RR Circuit Short To Ground
C1249 — ABS Outlet Valve Coil RR Circuit Short To Ground
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
C1249 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
When C1249 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1249 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module drives each wheel circuit's outlet valve by switching the low side of the coil to ground while the high side is fed from internal module power. DTC C1249 is set when the module detects that the Right Rear (RR) outlet valve coil drive circuit is shorted to ground, meaning the drive line is being pulled low when the module expects it to be high or floating. Because the outlet valve coil and its drive wiring are contained inside the sealed Hydraulic Control Unit and ABS module assembly, the short is almost always inside the HCU, at the module to HCU interfa...
