About C1892

C1892 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.

When C1892 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.

C1892 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

The left front ride height sensor reports front corner height to the air suspension control module so it can add or vent air and keep the vehicle level. DTC C1892 sets when the module detects the left front height sensor signal circuit shorted to ground, meaning the signal voltage is held at or near zero volts instead of varying with suspension travel. The sensor normally returns a varying signal as the suspension arm moves, so a grounded signal makes the module read an invalid, fixed low value. When this code is set the front corner may sit low or fail to rise, a suspension warning message ma...
