Wiper Wash/Delay Switch Circuit Failure
B1450 — Wiper Wash/Delay Switch Circuit Failure
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
B1450 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1450 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1450 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the wiper wash and delay switch circuit to detect driver inputs for the washer pump activation and the intermittent wipe delay setting. Most designs use a multifunction stalk on the steering column with a resistor ladder or discrete contacts that produce a unique input voltage for each delay position and a separate signal when the washer is pressed. DTC B1450 is set when the BCM identifies a circuit level failure on this input, such as an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or a voltage that remains outside the valid range for any defined s...
