Code Information

On the affected Ford applications the rotor sensor provides the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with a rotational position and speed reference from the engine, working alongside the camshaft and crankshaft position signals used for ignition and injection timing. DTC P1171 sets when the PCM detects a fault in the rotor sensor signal, such as a missing, erratic, or out of range input that does not agree with expected engine rotation.
