Low input at fuel tank level sensor
P1250 — Low input at fuel tank level sensor
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Audi
P1250 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1250 is stored, the module has detected a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1250 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The fuel level sender is a float operated variable resistor inside the fuel tank that feeds the instrument cluster, and on these vehicles the cluster passes the fuel level value to the Engine Control Module over the vehicle network or through a direct analogue signal. The ECM needs to know how much fuel is in the tank because it suppresses misfire detection and certain emissions monitors when the level is very low, since fuel starvation on a nearly empty tank causes misfires that are not electrical faults. DTC P1250 is stored when the module sees the fuel tank level input below its lower plaus...
