Code Information

The turbocharger bypass valve, also known as the diverter or recirculation valve, opens on throttle lift to vent charge pressure from the compressor outlet back to the compressor inlet. Without it the closing throttle plate traps boost against the still spinning compressor wheel, producing surge that slows the turbocharger and stresses its bearings.
