P1350 — Ignition coil primary circuit 3 open
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Audi
P1350 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Audi vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1350 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1350 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The ignition coil primary circuit carries the current that builds the coil's magnetic field, which then collapses to generate the secondary spark voltage. On these engines the primary is supplied with battery voltage and switched on the low side by an output stage, either integrated into the coil or housed in a separate ignition module, under the control of the Engine Control Module. Because current must flow through the primary winding for the module to have any control, the ECM recognises a broken circuit from the absence of current when it commands dwell. DTC P1350 is stored when the module...
