Camshaft Position Out Of Range
P1350 — Camshaft Position Out Of Range
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Toyota
P1350 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Toyota vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1350 is stored, the module has detected a plausibility fault — the measured value is in the electrical range but is not consistent with expected operating behaviour.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1350 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
This Toyota DTC sets when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the camshaft timing is outside the acceptable range, based on the correlation between the camshaft position sensor (CMP) and crankshaft position sensor (CKP) signals. The ECM continuously compares the two signals to confirm the cam is timed correctly relative to the crank, whether at rest or while the Variable Valve Timing system adjusts the angle. This condition occurs when the VVT system fails to hold the proper camshaft angle or when the mechanical timing has shifted, such as a chain that has jumped a tooth. The driver m...
