Fuel injection pump controller supply voltage low
P1287 — Fuel injection pump controller supply voltage low
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Chrysler
P1287 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Chrysler vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1287 is stored, the module has detected a signal or supply voltage lower than the expected operating range.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1287 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
This fault code sets when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the supply voltage to the fuel injection pump controller has fallen below a calibrated minimum threshold during operation. The controller needs adequate and stable battery voltage to drive the injection pump and meter fuel correctly, so the PCM monitors the feed for a low condition. Low supply voltage is most often caused by high resistance in the power feed or ground rather than the pump itself. The driver may notice hard starting, low power, hesitation, stalling, or a no start, usually with a check engine light.
