Ignition adjustment connector shorted to ground
P1330 — Ignition adjustment connector shorted to ground
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Kia
P1330 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Kia vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1330 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1330 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
Some Kia engines use an ignition timing adjustment connector, a service connector that a technician grounds to command the Engine Control Module (ECM) into a fixed base ignition timing mode for checking and setting timing. DTC P1330 sets when the ECM detects this adjustment connector circuit shorted to ground during normal operation, when it should be open. With the circuit grounded the ECM holds base timing and withholds normal spark advance. The result is noticeably reduced power, poor fuel economy, and possible knock or rough running, because the engine never receives its full computed timi...
