Intermittent high pitched very loud sound from engine bay.

Vehicle had just come back from a general service and the service advisor told them is could be a major issue.

Confirmed with engine running for a short time a high pitch scream noise was very evident.
Sounded like a cross between a metal rubbing/vibration type noise and an air leak.

Eventually traced noise to a faulty PCV valve.
