Customer Complaint

Vehicle stalled for the first time ever and then would not restart although it was cranking.

Problem Summary

More engine information: 3.0L TDi (B7).

Here was the sequence of events:

The owner parked the vehicle outside a hotel overnight in heavy rain.

Hotel staff reported the radiator fan had been running for a long time, hence the battery was dead flat. Road service had a new battery installed, claiming the failed one was a dud.

Once the battery was fitted the radiator fan came on.

The vehicle started and ran, was driven for a couple of hours. When stopped, the No 4 fuse was pulled out to stop the fan.

After restarting vehicle and running it for a few minutes it stalled and would not restart although it was cranking over.

The next road service person, a technician, noticed water on the driver's floor, but it had not rained since last night.

He suspected it was coming from the driver's corner under bonnet area. He tried to blow it out with an air gun but it was was still coming through.
