Code Information

This DTC is specific to a short to battery voltage in the automatic four wheel drive indicator lamp circuit. On this system the control module turns the lamp on by grounding the circuit through a low side driver. DTC P1869 sets when battery voltage is detected on the ground side control circuit at a time it should be inactive or low, indicating an unintended short to power. The condition can cause the indicator to illuminate when it should not and may damage the module lamp driver, so expect an incorrectly lit four wheel drive indicator alongside the stored code.
