TCC Enable Solenoid circuit
P1864 — TCC Enable Solenoid circuit
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: GM
P1864 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for GM vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1864 is stored, the module has detected an electrical-circuit fault in the wiring, connector, or driver associated with the named component.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1864 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The torque converter clutch enable solenoid is an on off solenoid in the transmission valve body that the Transmission Control Module, or PCM on some GM applications, energises to route hydraulic pressure that allows the torque converter clutch to apply. It works alongside the TCC pulse width modulated solenoid to control converter lockup for reduced slip and improved fuel economy at cruise. DTC P1864 sets when the controlling module detects an electrical fault on the TCC enable solenoid circuit, such as an open, a short, or a circuit that does not respond correctly to the commanded state.
